Position Summary: The Hospice Education Specialist provides support to agency leadership to coordinate and promote the internal and external education program required through the Medicare COP’s and Minnesota Statutes. This professional is responsible for the development and implementation of ongoing education requirements for all agency staff. The Hospice Education Specialist assigns, creates, modifies and coordinates education requirements for agency staff and provides education presentation to contracted direct patient care staff in Skilled Nursing Facilities.

Qualifications:
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing for Registered Nurse
- Must be registered and licensed with the State of Minnesota as an RN, and must maintain licensure
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required. Public speaking experience is preferred.
- Must be self-motivated with strong organizational skills and able to take initiative with new projects.
- Current Minnesota Driver’s License, insurance and daily access to reliable vehicle
- Minimum of 3 years’ hospice, home care or community health experience
Job Duties:
- Maintains current knowledge of all regulatory training guidelines and care related practice guidelines for training requirements and ensures agency education and training reflects these guidelines.
- Coordinates or provides formal and informal training on an on-going basis, including education seminars, specific training and in-services for agency staff.
- Creates and distributes educational resources for patients and caregivers to improve quality of care.
- Works with internal and external subject matter experts to coordinate the delivery of education programs or modules.
- Coordinates and records all education and training activities in the agency’s education calendar.
- Monitors and evaluates ongoing staff development needs and accesses both internal and external resources, programs or workshops for the continuing education of staff members.
- Manages the agency Learning Management Systems to assign learning modules and monitor reports to facilitate the agency’s leadership monitoring of staff compliance with education and training requirements.
- Assists with infection control program including items such as: FIT Testing and vaccine clinics.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
